In December 2015, Kirsty worked on the southern shores of Lesvos helping to bring in boats. She spent her Christmas holidays working the freezing nightshift on the beaches, assisting the many families arriving on rubber boats from Turkey. During the days Kirsty spent time shopping for aid and distributing supplies to Moria Camp.
On returning home to the UK her heart and head remained with the people she had met and helped and she decided to return to Greece.
Kirsty joined I AM YOU to work in Inofyta and Ritsona Refugee Camp and became Project Manager for their I AM YOUth programme, which provided daily creative educational play activities for children aged 3-12. Her dedication of both time and talent led to this becoming one of I AM YOUs most successful programmes.
Kirsty was an instant hit with the children and parents alike with the kids fighting over who's turn it was to take her home for tea.
Kirsty's background is in landscape architecture and site planning.
Kirsty now makes up one of the 6 co-founders of The Timber Project providing a humanitarian response along the Balkan route.
